We interviewed our lovely VP of Alumni Rachel Bilskie to get more insight into her role in AKPsi:
So, what does a VP of Alumni do?
“My general responsibility is to act as a liaison between the Brotherhood and Alumni. I encourage the Alumni to be as involved as possible through the attendance of events and coming to meetings to present what they have learned as Business Professionals. I also facilitated a professional partnership with the AKPsi Alumni Chapter for the Triangle area.”
What do you have in mind for this semester?
“This semester I plan to get as many Alumni involved in the upcoming events as possible, especially Alumni Day. I also am planning a special Alumni Day Bar Golf Tournament. My biggest goal is to really be as positive of an influence as I can for the Alumni so that they are encouraged to become more involved not just this semester, but also for the future.”
What is the best part about being a brother in AKPsi?
“Definitely the friendships! My best friends are all in AKPsi and I love that I can hang out with anyone in the group. I also like the fact that there are so many different ways that Brothers can take on leadership roles to become more involved.”
Pledging advice from Rachel:
“You will get a lot out of AKPsi if you are willing to put in the work by taking on leadership roles, or even helping behind the scenes. Your opportunities are what you make them, and if you give it all you’ve got, then you will reap the benefits.”
Rachel pledged AKPsi in Spring 2009. Rachel is now a senior and planning to go into finance upon graduation.
Alpha Kappa Psi is recognized as the premier developer of principled business leaders. We are UNC's oldest co-ed professional business fraternity. We're more than just a business club- we're brothers of AKPsi.
Our Chapter is Alpha Tau.
Our brotherhood is small and tight-knit, consisting of about 65 active members.
Our small size is our biggest asset. We take the term ‘brotherhood’ literally, and our close friendships allow for incredible networking with alumni and brothers alike.
If you’re interested in getting in touch, please see the Executive Board page for contact information.
